#14 Nennir

I’ve started this one. I’m not new to cables and they are not very difficult (really it’s true). What is making this pattern slow going for me is that while not hard, it is intricate. There are a lot of things to pay attention to, and so I need a quiet house with no disturbances. Maybe that won’t be the case for you, maybe it will be easy peasy. One thing I will say, I am 10 rows in and it is BEAUTIFUL. I do hope you join me in this one because I am dying to see more finished Nennirs.
Ok, good luck, and I will post my progress on my project page!

#11 Bitty Front Range by Laura Spargo Anderson

update:

Project #11 is Bitty Front Range by Laura Spargo Anderson

https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/bitty-front-range

Since my brother-in-law is expecting his first child to be born in about 2 weeks, I thought this would be a perfect time to tackle this little sweater! I've never made a sweater before, so I am super excited about this project!

One little snafu with the pattern, it was free in January when I picked all the projects, it seems like it is now $2. I will keep looking to see if I can find where I got it free. In the meantime, $2 isn't bad to support a pattern designer. Also on the Ravelry page, the Danish translation is still free, and the google translation of the page into English isn't bad, so that's a possibility too.

I'm excited to see your finished projects, so be sure to post pictures!

A Sweet Little Dishcloth

My latest rogue project, this little Boxy Dishcloth

I'm going to make some sustainable kits (handmade dishcloth, cup cozy, wax wraps, etc) to give as Christmas presents so there will be more dishcloths to come!

#10 Vanilla Latte Socks

Project #10 is Vanilla Latte Socks by Virginia Rose-Jeanes

Ok, it’s time, let’s take on some socks! I learned to knit because I wanted to knit my own socks. So far I’ve only finished 2 pairs (this will be my third), and they still kinda scare me. This pattern is really well written and gives you choices for heels and toes.
Tons of people have made them, so you can look on their pages for project notes and inspiration! For newbie sock knitters (like me) there is a nice step by step tutorial on you tube from Haalu here:
I’m excited to see your finished projects, so be sure to post pictures!
If you are knitting with us but maybe not that particular project, I’ve created threads for each project. The current ‘official’ project is ‘stuck’ to the top of the discussion boards. Feel free to jump in whenever you are joining. There is no pressure to ‘catch up’. Unless of course you are inspired by all the lovely photos of our FOs and can’t resist!
If you are knitting other projects from your stash and would like to share, there is a thread for ‘rogue’ projects too. I’ve already been inspired by some of the beautiful projects there!
Happy Knitting!

#9 Main Street by Tin Can Knits

Project #9 is Main Street by Tin Can Knits

I thought it might be time for a nice little portable project. This coffee cozy is great for using up odds and ends, makes a nice gift, and is a sustainable way to keep your hands from getting burned and your coffee warm!

I’m excited to see your finished projects, so be sure to post pictures!

Project #8 The Knit Mandala Cowl by Mary Dickerson

Project #8 is The Knit Mandala Cowl by Mary Dickerson
Knit Mandala Cowl- 2019 Destash Project
This one has been a popular choice and some friends have knit it already so be sure to check out the discussion thread for some inspiration!
This cowl is a fun knit with different sections to keep you interested and to highlight changes in yarn. I twisted mine at the cast on and couldn’t bear to frog, so now it’s a mobius cowl, my very own design feature!

Project #7 is The Classic Cuffed Hat by Purl Soho

Let's work our way up to some bigger projects by knocking out a few little ones. I've always wanted to knit this simple hat. I love the ease of it and mindless knitting in the round is what I need as I finish up grad school these next two months!

I don't know about your part of the world, but here in New England, Spring can still be chilly. Maybe pick a bright color to bring in the Spring!

Going Rogue!

I'm going rogue! I took a little break from the projects, but I still wanted to really cut down on my stash. I had a trip coming up so I needed some mindless plane knitting. I picked a giant skein of pretty acrylic and decided to find out how many baby hats I could knit from it. Turns out 5. I might have been able to get one more premie hat out of it, but I had enough at 5 :)

Another Cake Shawl Update

I gave this one to my mother-in-law. I ended up taking out the yellow from the cake because it didn’t really feel like her. I’m happy with how it turned out and I think she was too! More photos on my project page.

Let's take on something a little bigger, Another Cake Shawl!

I happen to have some of these Caron cakes in my stash due to a week moment and a great sale at Michaels! But, you don't need a cake to make the shawl, this could be a good opportunity to use up some leftovers to create something lovely and warm for those cool Spring days that are on their way!

I've started mine, and can't wait to see how your knits up!

I've added some clarifications to the pattern that you can find on my project page: https://www.ravelry.com/projects/myluckychicken/another-cake-shawl .

Workday Scarf Update

Our 4th project, Workday Scarf!

Update:

Here it is complete.

I have to say it felt like this took forever! Possibly because I was working on a few other projects at the same time.

I also didn't love the yarn, a little too thin for me, but I do love the color so I guess that's good.

Looking forward to the next project!

2019 Destash Project #4 Workday Scarf

Our 4th project, Workday Scarf!

We've done a hat and some mittens, I thought it time for a scarf :)

Since this is a short month, I picked a project that should go fairly quickly and is a simple knit.

My notes are in my project page. (click here)

Can't wait to see yours!

Get the pattern here.

Kahlo Update

Kahlo
These are all done! Another skein out of my stash!
I really enjoyed this pattern. It was a fast, fun knit with very clear directions. I’ve put them in their project bag and then into a little basket I’m going to keep with items to use as gifts. Maybe I’m already ahead for next Christmas!

2019 Destash Project #3 Kahlo

I figured with the polar vortex hitting the US, we could use some mittens to go with our hats!

Our third project is Kahlo!

https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/kahlo

I am knitting them with some cozy Alpaca worsted that matches a cowl I made (and still need to photograph). I also bought some fancy Hiya Hiya 9"circulars from a LYS that I've been dying to use.

I'm going to try to get these done this weekend because I have a few baby hats that need to get done.

So excited to see your mittens!

Perky Little Hat Update

All finished! I loved how fast this was to knit up! I would totally make like 10 more but I am out of bulky yarn. I made a little dent in my stash! When I have my stash under control this is definitely on the list of things to make again!

The Perky Little Hate being worn by its happy recipient!

2019 Destash Project #2 - Perky Little Hat

Our second project is....
Perky Little Hat by Sharon Lentsch

I’m so excited about our progress so far! People have been posting pictures to the group and I must say you have certainly risen to the challenge!
Click Here to go to our Ravelry group.

This project is a super fast knit, so if you are joining us a little late you’ll have time to catch up. Or, you can just jump right in, whatever floats your boat!
I am using one of the first ‘fancy’ yarns I ever purchased that has been in my stash for years. It feels good to be putting it to use. I don’t have a bag for this one because it’s been claimed by my wife already.
I did a little digging in other people’s finished projects and since I am knitting with size 13 needles I’m going to cast on an extra 4 stitches and knit 2 extra rows before the decreases.
I’m looking forward to seeing all your Perky Little Hats!

I took this picture of the giant yarn ball next to my giant tea mug and the medium sized ball left over from the last project, it’s so big!

Yarn before I wound it...

2019 Destash Project #1- Knotwork Cabled Headband by Lucy Liebenstein

Happy New Year!
Here it is, our first project:
Knotwork Cabled Headband by Lucy Liebenstein
Knotwork Cabled Headband- 2019 Destash Project

My first idea was to pick random projects, but as I thought about it, I thought it might be better to plan for items you may want in the winter, and maybe space out the larger projects with smaller ones.
I picked this project because in my part of the world it’s winter and I’d like something to keep my ears warm that isn’t as bulky as a hat. The cables are a nice little challenge for people wanting to learn something new (cables are seriously easy, I promise), and keep it interesting for experienced knitters.
Let’s aim to have this finished by January 15th, and I’ll post the next project on January 16th.
Hurray! We’ve started!!!

Update:

I had some time to finish this before I start back to work tomorrow. It fits nicely and I am happy with how the seam looks. I just sort of picked up stitches and sewed together as if I had thread. The yarn is so soft and cozy on my ears, very happy with this project!

2019 Destash Project

I am ready to commit to destashing both my yarn and my fabric in 2019. I decided to make it fun and create a little project to keep me motivated and to write about it here to keep me honest.

Here's the idea...

I have so many single skeins that are beautiful, but I don't tend to grab when I start a project. I also have any 1/4 and 1/2 yards of fabric.

I am going to pick 24 small single skein projects to knit in 2019, so one finished item every two weeks. I've done that part, here is the project bundle on Ravelry

Then I'll make simple project bags for each item, pick the yarn, and put the pattern and the yarn in the bag. Once all the little project bags are compiled, I will pick a bag and start knitting! Since there are only so many things I can wear, I anticipate that most of these will be gifts. I am going to use the projects bags as gifts bags when the item is done and ready for its home.

I'm pretty excited about this little project. It should free up some room in my crafty area, it's eco friendly, and will hopefully make the recipients happy, win, win, win!

If you are joining me in 2019, please comment below & let me see your finished loveliness!
